Zoa Pox

There is little known about zoa pox in the reef hobby.

Hobbyists seem baffled when it comes to causes of this infection. Some speculations include : seasonal changes, much like a cold for us. Carbon & aggressive skimming.

First it will start out as yellowish spots on the side of your zoanthid. As it spreads the yellow spots start turning white and the zoa will start closing its polyps. (Infection speed seems to vary.. it can spread and destroy a colony in days or take months

Solutions:

Physical Removal or Fragging infected polyps

Fresh water dipping

Dipping with Strong or weak Lugols solution or Tetracycline Dips

Adding vitamins to the main display
