Zoanthid Eating Spiders

Want to talk about creepy crawlies? Well this is the pest! Zoa Eating spiders look very much like a small spider in your tank. They typically have 8 legs and get up to 5mm. Unfortunately these little spiders can be difficult to spot in your tank because they like to hide insider the polyp as it closes (sometimes you can see their legs sticking outside of the polyp)
You are in luck though. Because of the breeding habits (zoa spiders reproduce sexually, not asexually.) they do not run rampant in the marine hobby

Solutions
Quarantine!! Quarantine! Quarantine! If you have recently purchased or if you have discovered these buggers in your display tank; if possible you should remove the coral into a quarantine tank. This will allow you to keep a close eye on your zoas so you can catch them (remember zoa spiders are sneaky and will hide in the polyp mat). In quarantine we recommend dipping your coral in RPS ALL OUT.
